VICTORIA 2 WIKI LIBERALS PLUS
When you've got 6 cement plants running, plus 7 more closed, and 4 of the 6 are operating at a loss because there's insufficient demand, somehow it seems imperative for the AI to build yet another cement plant. I didn't dare remove the closed factories, otherwise they'd build a new one to replace it almost every time, which would be bankrupt like the original after a few months. EVERY region had at least one of the two, often both, and most of them were closed. Once you get your economy going the only thing you really need to do is occasionally pump some money in it or order the construction of fuel refineries and automobile factories.įunny, but in one game, cement and canned food were about the only factories my capitalists would build.

State capitalism is only for small economies.
VICTORIA 2 WIKI LIBERALS FREE
Now if I head switched to a more free economy more early on, my industrialisation might not have been as quick, but my economy would at least have grown to respond to market demands. My economy never recover and even though a lot of people moved out of Switzerland again, the Japanese language forever remained an important part of Swiss heritage.

Because of this I was basically using the global supply of grain to produce liquor, causing revolts the world over. Turned out that my technology never really caught up and my vast industry was limited to producing only the most basic goods with vast subsidies. In a few months Japanese became the main language of Switzerland. Since I couldn't bear the costs of subsidies anymore I changed to a more laissez faire economy and pursued more liberal politics. At the same time the whole world was in rebellion. I was making lots of profits and at some point these profits started falling and becoming bigger and bigger losses. I westernized and quickly industrialized. I still remember one of my early games as Japan. The only problem is that sometimes when you micromanage your industry and then switch, your economy crashes because your economy was not build profitably. One note though, under Laissez faire, your factories actually produce a lot more products, so unless the market is already flooded with the products produced by your state-subsidized factories, they will actually earn more money.Īctually I really like liberalism in Victoria. Which then allows you to "Make your nation great again". The poor then usually turn socialist/communist/fascist, which are pro-big government. All the poor combined have large sums of money, that your government can use to pay for the things you actually want to manage. Solution might be to spend less on the military, or just taxing the poor people. So if you normally subsidize all factories and have big government in general, of course you will find yourself in problems when you cannot interfere in the economy any more. On your point of the liberals getting all the votes, do you have first past the post? Because that can cause it.Īlso, don't forget that liberals are usually for a smaller government. Note that all the money in your treasury is not spend in the economy. Also, just because your national treasury is growing, doesn't mean the economy is going well. By imposing tariffs, you are actually not allowing them to buy their needs. Problem with tariffs is that all the things your pops and factories cannot buy domestically, they have to import.
